A few questions people sometimes ask......
Q. What do I need to bring for my lessons?
A. For all your lessons you should bring your licence, glasses or contact lenses if you use them, and comfy shoes - not boots. Bring payment if you have not made online or prepaid arrangements . Currently also bring a mask, sanitise your hands beforehand.
Q. I'm at school but I get free periods during which I'm allowed to take driving lessons. Is that ok?
A. Sure, but make sure you have officially signed out before you leave. Schools take registers so if there is a fire alarm or incident they know who is on the premises. Make sure they know you are not there.
Q. Do you do offer lessons in an automatic?
A. Not at present.. The way things are heading I may do before too long but most people still want to learn how to drive a manual which allows them to drive either, If I offer automatic as well, my charges will go up. So not yet!
Q. Do you do intensive driving courses?
A. I'm afraid I don't. My view is that they involve too much driving in any one training day and concentratiion levels drop off. Tired drivers are not good or safe drivers. Also, you will get less variety of driving in different conditions on an intensive couse and my aim is to make you a safe and competent driver in as different conditions as is practicable.
Q. How many lessons does it take to pass a test?
A. Well - I'm afraid I don't know. This might sound odd but everyone is different and some people take just a short time and others longer. As an average it's about 25 to 30 hours if you get private practice in between lessons. If you just use my car for both lessons and practise - about 40 to 45 hours.. But you might be less - or more.
Q. Do you have other instructors who work with you?
A. No. It's just me - I don't run a franchise or employ others. I've built a reputation that I don't want to tarnish. That means you might have to wait a bit longer to get lessons but you know you will only get me teaching you .
Q. Which days do you work?
A. I work from Monday to Friday usually from 8.30am up to 7pm, and on Saturday usually from 9am up to around 5pm.. I don't work Sundays.
